Hi again,

I've neglected this blog a bit as I got quite into my tumblr, which is fun for images but not so much for writing. With writing being my first love this isn't much fun for me, so i've decided to revive this blog.
However, there's a slight change of plan because I'm going to dedicate this entirely to my other first love- music.
I'll try to update as often as possible, however I'm going to try keep it focused on gigs I've been to, new releases I'm loving, or current ~~loves~~ obsessions so it won't be updates daily- just when i find something that's interesting enough to blog about..

Gentlemen take Polaroids, they fall in love

My favourite genre of music ever is probably the new romantic movement of the 80s. It produced the sublime 80s beats, brillians synths and of course some of the best dressed musicians to ever live.
One of my favourite bands from this glorious era is Japan...
My dad is undeniably a HUGE influence on my music taste, as well as my interest in music in the first place and they are one of his favourite bands, as well as mine...

Japan were a five piece, originating from Catford (good old South East London for you...) made up of brothers David Sylvian and Steve Jansen (Batt officially), Mick Karn, Richard Barbieri, and Rob Dean.
Not only is David Sylvian quite possibly one of the most beautiful looking men ever to have lived, but his voice is- to me- just brilliant. It has a uniqueness and a tone to it that just makes me fall in love, a distinctive quality that sets Japan apart from their peers and into such high esteem in my mind.

If you like the sound of them, or if you already love them, I'd recommend: Gentlemen Take Polaroids (classic song, it should be up there with the greats- espcially with that good of an intro), Ghosts (probably my favourite of their soungs), Visions of China (brilliant song and beautiful video), Quiet Life (beautiful and haunting vocals), Adolescent Sex (first album, more Dolls-esque but brilliant) as well as their fantastic covers of both All Tomorrow's Parties and Don't Rain on My Parade.
Just a few, after starting I realised that I could quite easily sit here and list their entire discography which I'd highly recommend giving a listen.
As well as their solo efforts too, Sylvian's 'Brilliant Trees' is a classic in it's own right (from that I'd recomment Red Guitar, Nostalgia and Pulling Punches.)

I'm Amie. 19. Media and Cultural Studies Student at LCC.

For my applied studies section at university last term we had to write a blog in groups, get traffic and followers.(you can see ours here)
Well, I got quite 'into' writing for the blog and updating it and now I'm on my break from uni for the christmas times, I am BORED. So, I have decided to start up my own blog to occupy my mind and to fill with my inane ramblings and opinions on life really. I dont really have a plan for this blog, or like an aim of which direction I am going to take it in so hopefully it won't be too sporadic in themes- but, it'll probably end up as a mix of whatevers going on at that point in life... yeah

So, happy reading & I hope this somehow convinces you that my life is a lot more interesting than it really is
